BCHC Therapy & Wellness Center to Celebrate 10 Years

During the week of April 6th, the Therapy & Wellness Center at BCHC will celebrate ten years of serving the communities of Buchanan County with therapy and wellness services all under one roof.  Celebrating the past and looking forward to the future, the Therapy & Wellness center will hold a week-long open house in early April to thank its members and the communities of Buchanan County for their continued support over the years.

Breaking ground in the late spring of 2004, the Therapy & Wellness Center (TWC) opened their doors on April 8th of 2005, offering a four-lane pool, therapy pool, physical therapy treatment rooms, wellness studio, cardiac rehab office, and gym with exercise equipment and a walking track.  Since then, TWC has continued its commitment to provide quality wellness and therapy services by continuing to providing physical therapy and cardiac rehab services, as well as offer several fitness classes, personal training, health education, and corporate wellness.

“Buchanan County Health Center rolled out a new strategic plan last year. One of the main goals of that plan was to become THE community resource in health and wellness. We intend to begin moving forward with many new initiatives with the Therapy & Wellness Center, commented Shelby Medina, CAO.  These initiatives are intended to accomplish the following: Improve our offerings to community members and corporate partners, look beyond just exercise and also focus heavily on nutrition and health education, and reach demographics that the Therapy & Wellness Center has historically not been able to get engaged, continued Medina.  I am proud of what the Wellness Center has been able to provide to the communities it serves and am looking forward to what it will offer in the future.”

The Therapy & Wellness center at BCHC will celebrate this milestone achievement by opening its doors to the public from Monday, April 6th to Friday, April 10th.  During this week, members are invited to bring a friend to try out TWC free for the week.  Facility tours will be available to those interested in viewing the services provided at TWC.  On Tuesday, April 7th, free fitness classes will be available to the public from 5:30am-6:30pm, including Body Sculpt, Water Aerobics, Sculpt & Tone, SilverSneakers, Fighterbody Fitness and more.  Free blood pressure screenings and balance testing will be available from 9:30-11:30am.  At 5:30pm, the Buchanan County Running Club invite participants to meet at TWC for a group run.  Additionally, a youth fitness camp will be offered from 5:30-6:30pm to improve agility and coordination for the first fifteen participants who register in advance by calling TWC at 319.332.0850.
