Orthopedic Services to Expand July 1st
Buchanan County Health Center (BCHC) is pleased to announce the expansion of orthopedic services and clinic hours. Beginning July 1st, orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Benjamin Torrez, DO, MPH, will increase clinic hours to a weekly rotation, providing additional opportunity for patients to be seen more frequently and for surgical procedures to continue to be performed locally.
Dr. Torrez, visiting from Cedar Valley Medical Specialists, joined the rotation of BCHC Specialty Clinic physicians in February of 2014. Completing his residency in orthopedic surgery from Michigan State University/McLaren Oakland Hospital in 2013, Dr. Torrez received a vast amount of education and training in pediatric orthopedic surgery, hip and knee reconstruction, orthopedic trauma, and sports medicine.
“We are excited to have Dr. Torrez here for our communities on a weekly basis to truly provide the opportunity for patients to have both their clinic visits and scheduled procedures performed locally and under one roof at BCHC. Dr. Torrez has shown great enthusiasm for being here and for championing our orthopedic program. We have received great feedback and satisfaction from his patients,” commented Steve Slessor, CEO.
Orthopedic services at BCHC can assist patients with a variety of orthopedic needs, including orthopedic trauma, such as broken bones and fractures, foot and ankle issues, sport injuries, joint replacement, and shoulder mobility. As orthopedic services continue to expand, total joint replacements will become an additional orthopedic and surgical service at BCHC.
Dr. Torrez will hold morning clinic and afternoon surgery on the first and third Tuesday afternoons, and the second and fourth Tuesday mornings of each month.
