Amanda Becker, LMSW Joins Team of Mental Health Professionals at BCHC
Buchanan County Health Center (BCHC) is pleased to welcome Amanda Becker, LMSW, to its team of mental health professionals. Amanda will provide therapy services to patients as young as five years old at BCHC’s Independence and Oelwein locations.
Amanda earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Northern Iowa and brings valuable experience from internships and frontline roles in diverse mental health settings. Her background includes internships at the Department of Health and Human Services and BCHC, as well as service as a residential treatment worker at the Mental Health Institute (MHI) in Independence.
Specializing in trauma-informed care, Amanda focuses on understanding how trauma impacts youth development, behavior, and emotional well-being. She is committed to creating safe, supportive environments that foster healing and resilience.
“I’m especially excited about the opportunity to provide mental health services to youth in our community,” Becker shared. “Working with children is something I truly enjoy, and my passion lies in helping others navigate the lasting effects of trauma. My internship at BCHC was incredibly rewarding, and I’m thrilled to officially join such a supportive and skilled team.”
Outside of her professional work, Amanda enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Maple and Almond, crafting, exploring creative projects, and being outdoors—whether hiking, fishing, hunting, kayaking, or simply enjoying nature.
Amanda joins fellow mental health therapists Dan McElroy, LISW, and Nichol Hohenbrink, LISW, along with psychiatric nurse practitioners Miranda Frank, ARNP, PMHNP-BC, and Hope Gruman, ARNP, PMHNP-BC. Amanda is currently accepting patients with United Healthcare, Iowa Total Care, and HealthPartners.
