BCHC Auxiliary Awards $6,000 in Scholarships to Local Students
Each year, the Buchanan County Health Center Auxiliary awards scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to graduating seniors of East Buchanan, Independence, and Jesup High Schools through local chapters of Dollars for Scholars, along with nontraditional students and those continuing their education in a human health care related field, residing or working in Buchanan County.
On June 2nd, the BCHC Auxiliary held a scholarship dinner in honor of this year’s scholarship recipients. Six $1,000 scholarships were awarded with the funding help of Auxiliary fundraisers, annual dues, and hospital gift shop sales. The following individuals were awarded a $1,000 scholarship for entering or continuing their education in a human healthcare related field:
- Kylee Cooksley – Kylee is a 2016 graduate of East Buchanan HS. Her parents are Scott & Michelle Cooksley. Kylee will attend the University of Iowa in the fall to study human physiology and plans to enter the field of physical therapy.
- Jenna Price – Jenna is a 2016 graduate of Independence High School. Her parents are Steve & Darla Price. Jenna will attend NIACC in the fall and plans to enter the field of nursing.
- Morgan Weber – Morgan is a 2016 graduate of Jesup High School. Her parents are Chris and Rachel Weber. Morgan was involved in athletics, specifically volleyball. Morgan will attend the University of Northern Iowa in the fall and plans to enter the field of nursing or physical therapy.
- Brian Nolta – Brian resides in Jesup with his wife Brooke and their daughter. Brian is employed at BCHC and serves as the Rehabilitation Manager for the Therapy Department. Brian is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Arcadia University.
- Tera Stacey – Tera resides in Independence with her husband Jared and their five children. Tera is an employee of BCHC, working in the Wound Center. Tera is a student at Hawkeye Community College and will graduate in December with an Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Joshua Reeder – Joshua is a 2014 graduate of East Buchanan High School. His parents are Byron & Julie Reeder. Joshua is a student at the University of Iowa, majoring in chemistry with plans to enter the field of dentistry.
