BCHC Expands Community Support Services
Buchanan County Health Center (BCHC) is pleased to introduce a new service available to residents of Buchanan County, Oelwein, and surrounding areas, welcoming Melissa Hauschild, MA, to the role of Community Resource Navigator.
In this position, Melissa assists community members by connecting them with valuable resources related to transportation, insurance concerns, food, housing, utilities, financial assistance, Medicaid application support, and more. Looking ahead, Melissa will also assist volunteer coordinators with Buchanan County SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program), expanding her support for those navigating Medicare and related programs.
Melissa joins BCHC with 17 years of experience in education, most recently serving as a high school special education teacher supporting students with significant disabilities. She recently earned her Master of Science in Mental Health and Wellness, making her a great fit for this new position and service offering.
“I look forward to building relationships and connecting with individuals and organizations who can help support our community members and address any unmet needs,” Melissa shared.
A Manchester native and mother of two, Melissa enjoys spending her free time attending her children’s sporting events, staying active, reading, watching her favorite TV series, and spending time with her goldendoodle, family, and friends. She also volunteers with Delaware County Pay It Forward and the Delaware County Suicide Coalition.
Community members and organizations can connect with Melissa by calling 319-332-0089 or visiting Medical Associates, BCHC Jesup, or BCHC Oelwein. Patients may also be referred by BCHC staff, family, or friends.
