Buchanan County Health Center to Offer Pulmonology Services
The Buchanan County Health Center is pleased to announce that its Specialty Clinic is now offering Pulmonology services. Dr. Muhammad Anwer and Dr. Hamad Azam from Unity Point Clinic Multi‐ Specialty, Cedar Rapids, are offering hours in the clinic the second and the fourth Tuesday afternoon each month, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Pulmonary medicine focuses on the causes, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases affecting the lungs. Conditions treated include the following:
- ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome)
- Asthma
- Chronic Lung Disease
- COP (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
- Cystic Fibrosis
- Interstitial lung disease
- Lung cancer
- Pulmonary hypertension
- Pulmonary tuberculosis
- Sarcoidosis of the lungs
- SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome).
Dr. Anwer graduated from Ailama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore, Pakistan and completed Internal Medicine residency, Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, Bronx, New York; Ear, Nose Throat resident, Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, Pakistan; and Internal Medicine resident, Shalamar Hospital, Lahore, Pakistan. He also has a Critical Care fellowship, Montefiore Hospital, Bronx, New York and Pulmonary fellowship, Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, Bronx, New York.
Dr. Azam graduated from King Edward Medical College, University of Punjab. He completed residency, a fellowship and an internship at St. Josesph’s Hospital & Medical Center and is board certified by American Board of Internal Medicine / Subspecialty in Pulmonary Disease & Critical Care.
