Card Party to Benefit BCHC Auxiliary

Attention all 500 and Bridge card players! The Buchanan County Health Center Auxiliary will hold a Card Party Fund-Raiser on Friday, Feb. 28, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Oak View Senior Living Complex.  All card players are welcome.

“We thought this might be a great way to give people something fun to do at a time when we all begin to feel a bit of cabin fever,” explained organizer Bette Butler, BCHC Auxiliary membership chair, “as well as raise some money for our Auxiliary and all the important work we do!”

In the past year, the list of Auxiliary accomplishments includes:

  • Donating almost $500 to the Wellness Department to provide Safe Sitter baby sitting classes. Safe Sitter is a comprehensive babysitting training program with over 650,000 graduates nationwide. Graduates are able to handle emergencies when caring for younger children and are equally equipped with the tools needed to stay home alone safely. Financial assistance is available for families unable to afford class fees. Call for more details call 332-0850.
  • Donating more than $2,100 to provide a home-like updates to BCHC patient rooms.
  • Providing $6,000 in scholarships to Buchanan County residents pursuing medical careers. Successful applicants in the past have become doctors, nurses, radiology technicians, laboratory technicians, physical therapists, nurse practitioners and dental hygienists to name a few. More information and application available online at www.bchealth.info.

Refreshments and prizes are also included in the $5 cost to attend. If you would like to join us for cards, please RSVP to Bette Butler at 319-334-2416 or Brenda Fuller at 319-332-0905 by Friday, February 21st.
