Prediabetes Education Class to be Held June 3rd
On Wednesday, June 3rd, Buchanan County Health Center will offer a Prediabetes Information and Support Group, beginning at 5 p.m. in Meeting Room A at BCHC.
Prediabetes is when your blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetic.
Risk factors for prediabetes include:
- Being overweight
- Are age 45 years or older
- Have a parent or sibling with diabetes
- Have high blood pressure
- Do not get regular physical activity
It is estimated that 1 in every 4 adults has prediabetes. Diabetes has become an epidemic in the United States with as many as thirty percent of the population developing the disease. Attend this class to find out what you can do to reverse this disease process and lower your chances of heart, artery and kidney complications in the future.
