Scratch Cupcake Truck Returns August 14
The Scratch Cupcake Truck returns Thursday, Aug. 14 to be part of a Hot Dog Lunch fund-raiser hosted by the hospital.
The Scratch Cupcake Truck from Cedar Falls will be in Independence on Thursday, Aug. 14, in the North Parking Lot at the Buchanan County Health Center, beginning at approximately 11:00 a.m. The public is cordially invited to stop down and try these scrumptious desserts.
“If you have never tried a Scratch Cupcake, you are in for a real treat!” explained Dianne Hepke, long term care activity coordinator and captain of the BCHC Alzheimer’s Walk Team. “These are big, beautiful gourmet cupcakes with names like ‘Chocolate Turtle,’ ‘Raspberry Love,’ and ‘Salty Dog.’”
A Hot Dog Lunch to raise funds for the BCHC Alzheimer’s Walk Team will also be available. The team last year raised $2700.00. We are hoping to meet or exceed our goal to benefit the 2014 Cedar Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s set Saturday, Sept. 27, at the RiverLoop Amphitheatre, 225 Commercial Street, Waterloo. Event check-in begins at 8 a.m. with the Walk Kick Off at 9:30 a.m.
The cost for lunch, including hot dog, chips and drink is $5. Scratch Cupcakes will sell for $2 each. Everyone is welcome to enjoy one or both of these treats. The BCHC Alzheimer Walk Team will also sell raffle tickets for an extra-long, twin-sized quilt, created by artist Deb Hinde. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.
