Two BCHC Nurses to be Honored with 100 Great Iowa Nurses Award
Buchanan County Health Center is pleased to announce that two of its own have been named among the 100 Great Iowa Nurses. Surgical Services Manager, Jennie Goos, BSN, RN, along with Diabetes Education Coordinator, Cindy Horn, RN, will be honored with this prestigious award on May 7th in Des Moines as a kick-off to National Nurses Week.
“I am so proud of Cindy and Jennie for always going above and beyond for their patients to assure the best possible care and outcome with every encounter. This award was well deserved for these two highly skilled nurses. Having two nurses receive this prestigious award is quite an honor and a testament to the quality nurses that we are fortunate to have at BCHC. I am very proud of all of our nurses who have received nominations,” commented Chief Nursing Officer, Tara McEnany.
The 100 Great Iowa Nurses program identifies 100 outstanding nurses every year whose courage, competence, and commitment to patients and the nursing profession stand out above all others. These nurses go above and beyond to contribute significantly to the profession of nursing. Each year, the 100 Great Iowa Nurses program asks for patients, coworkers, friends, and family to nominate an outstanding nurse for recognition. Received nominations then undergo a two-part review process to select the honorees. Since the award program’s inception in 2005, many nurses at BCHC have been nominated, but only one other has received this recognition; Julie Sproull, Director of Nursing and Associate Administrator in 2006.
