Amy Latwesen, ARNP Joins BCHC as Inpatient Hospitalist & Memory/Palliative Care Specialist
Buchanan County Health Center (BCHC) is pleased to announce the addition of Amy Latwesen, ARNP, to its team of medical providers. Amy will serve as an inpatient hospitalist alongside Jennifer Torgerson, ARNP, and will also provide memory and palliative care services.
Amy brings over 13 years of experience as a critical care nurse, including ICU positions at UnityPoint Allen Hospital and Mercy Medical Center. Most recently, she served as an acute care hospitalist at Mercy Medical Center, where she managed comprehensive patient care, including treatment plans, medications, labs, imaging, and family consultations regarding palliative care and hospice.
A lifelong learner, Amy earned her first Master of Science in Nursing Education from Allen College of Nursing in 2017 and returned to earn her Master of Science in Nursing in Adult Gerontology as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Purdue Global University in 2022.
“I am looking forward to caring for the community,” said Amy. “I consistently develop strong relationships with patients and families through empathetic communication and respectful attitudes. I use my clinical expertise and sound judgment to make the best decisions for each individual patient.”

Originally from Waverly, Amy resides in Independence with her husband. Together, they have six adult children and nine grandchildren. Outside of work, Amy enjoys baking, spending time with family, and traveling.
