BCHC Administrators Get “Pie’d” for a Cause
Proud supporters of Relay for Life and a Walk to End Alzheimer’s, BCHC employees recently raised $480 by holding a pie-in-the-face contest between the administrative leaders. After three weeks of fundraising, the employees gathered for a celebratory cookout and reveal.
“During the final days of the fundraiser, employees worked hard to pool their change together in hopes that their selection would be deemed the winner. Similar to children on Christmas Eve, everyone was anxious for the big reveal! We all felt the excitement in the air,” commented PR Manger, Michelle McBride.
The big reveal took place over the noon hour on August 20th during an employee appreciation meal. As employees gathered around the chairs of the five administrative leaders, the results were read. Tara McEnany, Chief Nursing Officer received $31.32, Ben Stevens, Chief Financial Officer received $43.18, Angel Decker, Director of Long Term Care received $77.15, Shelby Medina, Chief Administrative officer received $164.11, and Steve Slessor, Chief Executive Officer received $164.24. With a thirteen cent difference, both Medina and Slessor were the victims of a cherry pie smash by their fellow administrative partners.
“It tasted pretty good!” Shelby Medina, CAO, exclaimed.
Currently, the BCHC fundraising team is selling raffle tickets for a queen-sized quilt created and donated by Deb Hinde. The proceeds of the quilt raffle will benefit the BCHC Walk to End Alzheimer’s Team, who will be participating in the walk on September 26th at the RiverLoop Amphitheatre in Waterloo. Raffle tickets are available for purchase at BCHC now through September 25th.
In 2014, over $4000 was raised by the employees of BCHC, benefiting Relay for Life and a Walk to End Alzheimer’s. For more information, visit www.bchealth.org, or follow “Buchanan County Health Center” on Facebook.
