BCHC Auxiliary Donation to BCHT Salutes Area Nurses
The Buchanan County Health Center Auxiliary recently donated $50 to the Buchanan County Health Trust in honor of Nurse’s Week May 6-12th.
“We really want to say thank you to the kind and compassionate nurses who care for our Buchanan County community,” said Auxiliary President Carla Reynolds. “And we want them to know that we appreciate their skill, dedication and the sacrifices they make to care for us.”
The Buchanan County Health Trust, Inc., originated in 1989 with the foresight of providing funds for health related projects across Buchanan County. Gifts to the Health Trust are not spent, but instead added to the endowment. The interest then generated by the endowment is used to support organizations, which are dedicated to improving the health of all Buchanan County citizens.
Past support has provided funds for a number of different projects: the new emergency helipad at Buchanan County Health Center, a mammography machine, ambulance for the Lamont First Responders, a defibrillator for the East Buchanan Community Schools, Jaws of Life in Brandon, Buchanan County Hospice capital fund drive, Independence Fire Department Rescue Van, a new Buchanan County Health Center ambulance, CPR manikins for the Buchanan County Red Cross, a new defibrillator for the Quasqueton First Responders, and Hepatitis B immunization for all seventh and eighth graders across Buchanan County to name just a few.
The Auxiliary annually makes two $50 donations, one to mark Doctors’ Day, the second to mark National Nurses’ Week in May.
“On behalf of the board, I would like to thank BCHC Auxiliary members for both of these generous gifts,” said Denise Rorabaugh, president of the BCHT. “Donations like this are the heart and soul of the Health Trust and a fitting way to honor the compassionate nurses who care for this community.”
