Buchanan County Health Center Announces New Lactation Services to Support Families Close to Home
Buchanan County Health Center (BCHC) is pleased to announce the availability of new lactation services designed to provide breastfeeding education, guidance and encouragement to families close to home.
Offered through BCHC’s Therapy Department, certified lactation counselors, Jaden Wilson, MA, CCC-SLP, CLC and Emily Engel, OTR/L, CLC are available to support families throughout their breastfeeding journey.
Lactation services include:
- Breastfeeding education and support
- Assistance with latch and positioning
- Guidance for milk supply concerns
- Support with pumping
- Encouragement and individualized guidance for every family’s unique feeding journey
Families can meet with a BCHC certified lactation counselor before their baby is born to discuss breastfeeding goals and develop a plan and feel confident in their feeding journey. Support is also available after delivery for families experiencing questions, concerns or difficulties with breastfeeding.
Lactation services are available by referral. Patients interested in receiving support should discuss a referral with their child’s primary care provider or OB provider.
